"Teku teku" is a Japanese onomatopoeia for walking a long distance at a steady pace.
Our teku teku man patch draws inspiration from Tekuteku-san, a Japanese woman selling sweets to Hokkaido hikers with a portable wooden box strapped to her back.
Her mobile mountain cafe motivated Tomosumi to make a "tansu" (chest) of his own to store and sell onigiri for fellow travelers to enjoy in the Pacific Northwest.
